Dead Fish started out in 1991 in Vitória, in the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo, outside of the main cultural hubs of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Since then we’ve put out ten studio albums. The latest one was “Labirinto da Memória”, which came in the first semester of 2024 through the Brazilian label DeckDisc — which also put out about half of our discography, as well.
We are heavily influenced by hardcore punk bands, such as Brazilian/South American
bands like Cólera, Ratos de Porão and Ataque 77, US bands like Fugazi, Bad Religion and 7 Seconds and UK bands like Cock Sparrer, The Clash and Ned’s Atomic Dustbin.
We have won two MTV Video Music Brazil awards, one in 2004 under the category Best New Artist, and another one in 2009 under the category Best Hardcore Video.
We have released a live album with MTV Brazil and we’ve also had our performances broadcast on Brazilian TV stations Globo, Multishow and CanalBis.
We have been touring Brazil constantly for the past 3 decades, but we have also played in countries such as Germany, Chile, and Argentina.
Some of the biggest festivals/events we’ve played at are: World Social Forum (for an
audience of about 120 thousand people), Festival de Verão de Salvador, Maximus Festival, Festival DoSol, Festival Planeta Atlântida and most recently, in September 2022, we played at Rock In Rio in Rio de Janeiro on the same night as Iron Maiden.
Some of the bands we have played with/opened for are: Ratos De Porão, Inocentes, Shelter, Buzzcocks, All, New Model Army, Bad Religion, Pegboy, Bambix, Samiam, NOFX, Die Toten Hosen, Pulley, Terror, Slayer, Flatliners, Marky Ramone, Alkaline Trio and Prophets of Rage.
